How do I
print my pages, if I would not use any photo-editing software like Paintshop
Pro.
I do realise that many crafter do not use any editing programs to adjust, cut
or resize the parts of a scrapkit that they want to use.
Often I create my journal page or card through paintshop pro. I create a base
layer in the size I need, import my A4 pages, cut out the elements that I need and
resize that to fit my journal page.
Now when I will not go through that and just create “On the Flow”. I will just print each page on 100% or use
Word to print my pages.
Here's how I go about this, keep in mind though, I’m Dutch, so my word’s
language settings is set to Dutch:
I open a new word file and set it to landscape.
Next I’ll adjust the margins to narrow.
Under the
margins drop down menu, you will find the narrow setting. This is mine:
So now my
Word page is set up to add the pages that I want from the kit.
I go to
Insert, Image, this device
You then
browse to the page/image that you want to insert in your Word document. You can
either do that by double clicking on the image you want to insert or select the
image and then choose insert.
After you have selected insert, that image will appear on your page and you
will have an image menu on the top.(if somehow you do not have that, just click
or double click on your inserted image to pop that up on top). When looking to the right top corner, you will
see that you can adjust the size of your image.
I will set
the height to 19cm.
and press enter. This will change the height to your inserted image to 19 cm.
With the margins set to narrow, you can now click next to your image and insert
the second image in the same way and adjust the size of that one to the height
of 19cm as well.
Now you
will have 2 images on your page.
Click on your left image, choose position, centre left.
Click you right image, choose position, centre right.
Your page
is ready to be printed.
When you
start printing, make sure you have your print settings to landscape and paper
to A4.
For the printing quality, that all depends on what you want with it. The higher
the quality, the more ink will be used, the more prep it will take if you want
to use the images for mixed media as ink will bleed when you want to add other
mediums on top. When I just want to print, cut, assemble, I will go for high
quality. How ever if I want to use my papers for creating paper beads or
anything that means the paper will be covered in some kind off liquid, I usually
go for medium and still prep my paper/design/image with some kind of fixative
before use.
If you just
want a single A4 page to be a certain amount smaller, you can just add a single
image to a page and adjust the settings/size of that image.
For example, if you want your square background page to be 13x13cm because you
want to layer it on top of a 13,5 x 13,5cm mat cardstock to put it on a 15 x
15cm card.
Just insert that square background paper and set the height to 13cm.
Or maybe
you want the paper to fit your planner page, like I do with my Filofax
Personal, I will change the height of the image to 17cm. Do keep in mind that
the image has to maintain its proportions, so always only adjust the height or
the width. And as with any pre-printed page. You will always have loss of parts
of the image if the height x width ratio are different from an A4.
So when I adjust a vertical image to match my planner height of 17cm, when
cutting the image to match my page, it will have a bit of image loss on the right or the left,
depending which part of the image I want to keep.
I hope you find this helpful.
